Description
By today’s standards, Iron Maiden’s 1980 debut is musically and visually the most quaint album on this list. It’s also fair to say that none of the other records here would exist without it. The British band gave metal the technical and physical thrust it needed to thrive in the upcoming decade, and its cover introduced their venerable mascot, Eddie, who began here as a zombie-like creature and has since morphed into various other supernatural beasts over the years.
